Replace UV Light didn't work since the UV light controller in the TTP240 doesn't work. So I had replaced the entire unit with 440 in 2011 which to me is an upgrade. With 440 pushing out more air flow and is smaller to the 240. The 440 does have handle to carry it around, the filter is wider and I haven't even change it yet. Been about 7 months now and it's on 24/7 on high fan. I also like the fact that it doesn't light up the entire room like the 240 did. I had to find something to cover the blue amber LED lights. When you turned on UV, ION, FAN and Timer or either one the it's bright!The 440 you can go into night mode but I still have to cover the top to me it still a bit bright, but not as bad as the 240 was. The lights are quite bright and are somewhat of a pain at night, but it does a great job at purifying the air of dust and allergens. It does not do a great job at eliminating smoke smells, but given that it's being used in conjuction with an older 201 that needs a filter and lamp replacement, I very much doubt the unit is to blame so much as where I've placed them and the house I'm using it in (both could be very much improved, my room is right next to a bathroom used for smoking, so I'm going to smell it no matter how many filters I have running in the room).I gave it 5 stars because I have had this for awhile and have not really noticed a deterioration in its ability to clean the air, and the filter is still like new after several months. I have no complaints other than the whole 1-year lamp replacement thing. I'm not looking forward to replacing the lamp on this unit. But really, you can't... I first tried it in a tiny kitchenette because my last tenant cooked Indian food and left a strong cooking smell. despite washing down the floors and walls, I can't get rid of the smell. So I thought a Hepa and a UV germicidal would do the trick. Nope, did not really do anything. I have had an ecoquest in the past and I know it would have worked a miracle in 8 hours on sanitize mode. This unit plugged on high for 48 hours couldn't do much. I then transferred it to the small bathroom, where there is a musty odor because the tenant somehow knocked the water filler out of the back of the toilet tank. And while I dried up the baseboard for a couple days with a fan, it still smelled musty in there. This unit did not help at all. |
